Energy – Comfort – Environment: What matters most? A multi-criteria assessment of a residential apartment

Abstract In this study, a multi-criteria assessment approach is performed for residential apartment located in Athens, combination of different energy systems, building envelope and shading systems. 24 alternative cases total are fully simulated via EnergyPlus software aiming to the calculation Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) terms consumption heating cooling, thermal comfort, visual comfort environmental impact. The results KPIs fed decision-making process that takes into consideration preferences stakeholders. optimum solution selected by use Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). most scenario, potential primary savings CO 2 emissions approximately 35% while discomfort hours respectively 17% 67% less than with worst conditions. suggest such can be useful at an early stage design or renovation order better inform decisions avoid sub optimizations.
